Beatrice and Louise on the way home from the hospital!
Our first couple of weeks home have been a whirl-wind! We've had a revolving door of visitors and help (more on the our help in an upcoming post!), which we've loved having and appreciate greatly! Of course, with the babes being early, they slept the better part of every day- except to nurse, of course! Unfortunately, the nursing didn't go very well as the girls continued to drop significant weight- which left this mama as quite the puddle!! After several visits to the doctor and lactation consultations, we decided it was best to supplement the girls with some "high calorie" formula. They eventually regained their weight and I'm feeling much more confident about their weight/health! At five weeks in, I am still supplementing with formula- sometimes just an ounce a day and sometimes up to four or five- there is no rhyme or reason to their need for it at this point. I'm hoping that we can eventually go to just breast milk. But I am so grateful that there is something to give the girls in the meantime to help them grow!
The boys continue to be SO GOOD to their sisters! Henry is absolutely in love with them. He is so sweet and so helpful and is so excited to see them each day when he wakes up. Charlie is also very good to them- but doesn't pay nearly as much attention to them as his big brother. He's much more into seeing what trouble he can get into when mom's busy with the babies!!! :)
Even though we can tell them apart very easily (Beatrice has much more hair and stronger features than Louise), we continue to dress them in pink (Bea) and purple (Lou).
Henry takes being a big brother very seriously!!!
They have officially outgrown their premie outfits and fit nicely into their newborn clothes.
Sleep was still hit and miss at this point- as with all newborns, they had (and still have!) their days and nights mixed up. But, this being our third and fourth babies, I know it will come to an end eventually!!
