On your second birthday, buddy, your world was turned up-side-down. We brought your sisters home less than two weeks prior to your big day but, let me tell you, you have held your own! You have such a special place in our family as the little brother and now the big brother. You are funny, sweet, quirky, smart, athletic, and can be the life of the party! Despite the chaos that has become our new norm, we so enjoyed celebrating the birth of you, my sweet boy!
We started the day off with banana pancakes complete with candles! You loved having us sing happy birthday to you! :)
Big brother needed some candles too!
Our favorite peeps came over to spend the morning with us to make your day extra special! They surprised you with balloons (all of which popped within 20 minutes after their arrival- while Henry's preschool teacher was visiting. Oh boy!) . . .
. . . and donuts (a birthday tradition!).
We spent the morning playing in the backyard! Auntie Jennie had you giggling with her epic underdogs!
After a lunch of grilled cheeseburgers (your request!), you blew out more candles on the delicious banana cake Auntie Jennie made for you (because mom was too over-whelmed/tired to make you a cake. Sorry- I'll make it up to you in the future!).
Dad got home from work and took you and Henry to swim lessons. Everyone sang happy birthday to you during your lesson- you thought that was cool! THEN, you finally got to open your gifts!
(Love this belly shot of you!).
You loved your gifts- several books on sports and a weed-wacker and lawn mower!
So cool!
The next morning, you and Henry continued to play with your new toys while wearing safety goggles (aka, swim goggles!).
Charlie, you are SO FUN!!! I'm so proud to be your mama and can't wait to see what you do with this wonderful life of yours!
Happy day, happy year, happy always and ever!
Love you buddy!
Mama
