Charlie's favorite thing to do is . . .

. . . EAT!  The boy can't get enough!  I had him at the doctor to get his ears looked at this week (all was well- had a bit of a red throat so that may be why he's been fussy) and he weighs 23 pounds! I think this is how I'll remember Charlie's baby year- in his high chair with food all over!!!
Here's my other cutie!  His face is "messy" from face painting at the Children's Museum earlier that day!

Preschool!!!!

Henry is taking a "preschool" class two mornings this week!  I can't believe my little buddy is old enough to go to school!  He was a bit clingy at drop off and teared up when I got there to pick him up (I think in relief that I came back!).  But the teachers said he did great!  He will officially go to preschool beginning in September for one morning a week.  He's so grown up!
Henry is apparently practicing his "intellectual" pose before his first day of school!
He was busy playing with cars when I left on Tuesday!  Drop off today was a little more difficult but once a teacher took him under her wing, he was fine.  We'll see how he is at pick up in just a bit here! :)

Blueberry Picking!

We did some blueberry picking over the weekend!  The boys had a great time and didn't mind getting rained on while we picked! :)  Both ate their fair share while picking . . . I had some good poopers the following couple of days! :)
Charlie did a little blueberry mashing!

 This picture cracks me up!
 So does this one . . .
. . . and this one.  Clearly, the boys were in a picture-taking mood!
Henry thought have a tire as a swing was pretty awesome!

Piggy Pancakes

Henry has been into "Pookie" books by Sandra Boynton lately.  In one of them, piggy pancakes are made.  Henry insisted we make some piggy pancakes as well.  We have now made piggy pancakes for breakfast the last several mornings (I keep a batch in the freezer so I'm not actually making pancakes every morning!!) . . . they have gotten more elaborate each day with requests for legs, hair, etc.  I guess it's a good way to get him to eat a bunch of fruit for breakfast!

Charlie turns 11 months

I get all teary eyed thinking that my baby only has one more month before he's not a "baby" anymore!  **Sigh**  Despite my denial, we have been having lots of fun planning Charlie's first birthday party!  Henry has really gotten in to this party planning business and has been a great help.  I often here things like, "I want to have a staw-bear-wee paw-tee, mom," when he's eating strawberries. Or, "I want to have a book paw-tee, mom," when he's reading books (he better watch out, I may take him up on that one!!).  Back to Charlie . . . he continues to be so much fun and a really easy little guy.  He now says four words:  mama, dada, baw (ball) and uh-ohzz (when dropping his cup, food, etc. off his tray or his puzzle pieces from his stool).  He is taking up to about 10-12 steps now but isn't completely up to the task of making it his first choice of mobility.  He will walk, unprompted, from one place to another.  So stinkin' cute!  He is down to nursing 3 times a day (morning, before afternoon nap, and at bedtime), much to his dismay!  He is an extremely good eater and will put anything and everything in his mouth that I place on his tray (usually by the fistful!).  He is still taking a good morning and afternoon nap (although, I've been shortening his morning nap to ensure a good afternoon nap that coincides with his big bro's!).  Charlie's favorite past times are blowing bubbles with his spit, attacking any toy that Henry happens to be playing with, sitting back on his knees and bouncing, throwing balls, and reading books.  Oh, I just love this boy!!!

Naked Baseball

Normally, I don't like to post pics of my boys completely naked . . . but the rule has to be broken for this picture.  How hilarious is this?!?!  Charlie looks like an old pro.  His uncle Dylan would be proud!!
Love this sweet pic of the boys!

Weekend fun!

We did a little hiking and picnic over the weekend!  SUPER FUN!
Both boys had fun exploring the trails!  Henry liked finding sticks.  Charlie liked finding sticks and eating them.
 Picnic lunch
Henry played in the mossy pond while . . .
. . . Charlie sweated in the stroller.
We also went on our first family of four bike ride!  Charlie thoroughly enjoyed this new way to travel (or it could have been the snack trap that got to go along!).
I'm one lucky lady to have these three guys in my life! :)

Garden Deliciousness!

I am in love with having a garden!  It makes me so darn happy to pick fresh veggies/herbs out of the yard and use them in our dinner.  We've been making lots of tomato/basil concoctions these days.  This particular night, I also added some zucchini.  Mmm, mmm, good!
Best part is . . . hardly any clean up.  The only thing to really clean is Charlie! :)
Big brother has become a pretty neat little eater.  Hardly any clean up is required! :)

Project!

Our deck is/was in desperate need of some TLC!  We decided to stain it over the weekend- Tom got a good portion done on Sunday and I have dabbled a bit this week.  We are hoping we'll have a spiffy new deck to enjoy at some point this weekend!!  Henry was a happy little helper for about two minutes.  He's ears got the best of him and he just wanted to go inside and snuggle with mom instead of work with dad (really, can you blame the guy???  Staining a deck is NOT fun!!).

Poor buddy

Henry has his first ear infection since February of 2011 and it is sure taking a toll on him!  He's been laying low since last Friday and is still not himself today.  After chatting with the doctor this morning, he decided to switch Henry's meds to see if that will do the trick.
Henry has definitely enjoyed the "perks" of being sick:  eating in the living room, watching TV, having his mom spoon feed him his meals (ridiculous, I know, but I want to get food in his body!!), and lots (and lots and lots and lots) of attention.  We've renamed him Whiney McWhinerson- I'm hoping this is due to his illness and not a wonderful new "phase" we have to get through!!!  In the picture above, Charlie-man thought he should have a straw cup too!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th!  We had an excellent day hanging with our buddies!
Henry & Charlie, John & Nick, Frederick & Otto
(not sure who is more disgruntled . . . Charlie or Nick!)
The big boys sang happy birthday to America . . .
. . . and blew out candles (John insisted we have candles! :))

Goooooood eater!

Charlie is proving to have very sophisticated tastes when it comes to his food!  Pictured above, he is devouring potato, leek, and thyme pizza!  He's also eaten BBQ beef, sloppy joes, shredded turkey sandwiches, tomato/basil/garlic pizza, chicken chow mein, along with lots of fruit and veggies (although he prefers meat and bread to fruit and veggies!!).  I love that he can pretty much eat anything we eat now!  Makes dinner time much easier . . . and he is much happier when he can feed himself instead of his mom doing it!

Cream with that coffee?

Charlie got into my coffee . . . he used his sharp new teeth to poke through about 8 of the cups!  I had coffee grounds ALL OVER the kitchen floor!  I think he's going to be a coffee drinker some day . . . he didn't mind the taste of it one bit!

Garden fun!

I love, love, love watching Henry in the garden!  I equally love how he'll pop any fruit, vegetable or herb that he picks in his mouth and eat it without hesitation!
 Mmmmm . . . strawberries!
Henry ate our first bell pepper like an apple!
Charlie supervised to ensure no plants were stepped on while his big brother was exploring the garden!

Cabin for a day

We spent part of Saturday at a friend's cabin.  Man, I wish we had a cabin to go to every weekend!  It is so much fun being on the water!  The boys had a blast, of course!  Henry and Tom did a bit of kayaking.
Charlie loved eating the sand and being splashed around in the water.
Henry was quite the giggle box watching the fish in a bucket!

Birthday suits

We've been eating lots of meals on our deck and inevitably, we end up back in the water . . . often times naked!

 Handsome Henry
 Charming Charlie
 Charlie and mom
 Charlie and dad
(Henry doesn't sit still long enough for us to snap a photo with us!)
Charlie's buns are too cute for words! :)
