Balmy weekend!

We experienced warm temperatures this weekend- the warmest since November! It got into the 40s (which felt like 70 to us Minnesotans!). We were outside most of the weekend . . . going for walks, playing in the snow, sledding, chipping away at the ice build-up, etc. Henry insisted on being buried in the snow again. Silly boy!
Here are a few fun things Henry is doing as of late:
  • takes our finger and pulls us to where he wants us to go
  • favorite words: baby, more, ball, da, ma, mama, uh-oh, up
  • developed a fake giggle- it's hilarious!
  • takes out a little plastic bowl and sits on the rug in front of the kitchen sink when he wants a snack
  • loves to "write" at daddy's office desk and mommy's computer desk
  • "talks" on our phones- cell and home
  • after hearing a dog bark, he'll bark back "uff, uff"

Classic

Henry now has the photo every baby has in his/her collection . . . the classic spaghetti over the head! Super cute to look at . . . not so cute when cleaning up! :) Good thing it was bath night!

Big Brother Henry!

So here's the real reason for not blogging in a while . . . Henry is going to be a big brother!!! We are so super excited to add another little one to our family! :) Needless to say, I've been completely and utterly exhausted for the past ten weeks or so. And with Henry not napping, I've gone to bed exactly 30 seconds after I put him down! :) I think I've finally turned the corner and am starting to feel better and regain my energy!
Frequently asked questions answered:
1. I am about 11 weeks along and the due date is September 1st (although my doctor says I'm measuring a bit bigger and she will firm up the date after my next ultra sound in a couple of weeks).
2. Nope, we are not finding out the gender! We like the surprise!
3. The kids will be about 22 months apart.
4. We are not planning on sharing names we have on our list- you'll have to wait until the baby's birthday! :)
5. I am requesting a leave next school year so I will be a stay-at-home mom after the school year for an indefinite amount of time (WAHOO!!!).

A-town

Tom was in sunny Miami for a work retreat this weekend, so Henry and I spent some time in Austin with my parents (we hadn't been there to hang out since last spring!!!). It was a gorgeous two days so we spent lots of time outside!
Grandpa was clearing snow off the roof (which Henry thought was pretty stinkin' cool) and then shoveling up the snow. He put some snow on Henry's legs and Henry signed and said, "Maw (more)." Pretty soon he was buried in snow! :)
Here's snowman Henry!
We went for an hour-long walk (around the block!) with cousin Aubrey and Grandma. Henry is quite the pokey-joe; he had to stop, observe and touch just about anything he saw!
Aubrey and Henry went sledding in Aubrey's sled! Anytime we would stop to take a break, Henry would yell, "Maw!"
We had such a fun time playing with Aubrey, Grandma and Grandpa. And visiting with Great Grandma Theresa, Aunt Tammy, Uncle Derek, Aunt Carmen, and Great Grandma Marcie!

TOYS!

Henry has more toys than we know what to do with (many of which he got for Christmas and are currently in storage- we bring a new one out every now and then and it's like Christmas all over again for him!). We said no more toys until he turns two! BUT, we had dinner with our friends the other night and their little guy has a super cute tent with a tunnel. Henry LOVED it! So, what does Tom come home with the next day? A tent with a tunnel, of course! This boy is going to be spoiled rotten! So really, no more toys until his second birthday!!!!

Henry-isms

We haven't been up to a whole lot the past few weeks. But here are a few random shots of things Henry is doing these days (for you stalker, I mean Jarvis!!).
As you all know, Henry is a lover of books. He recently has learned how to crawl up on chairs all by his big-boy self. He loves climbing up in his rocking chair and reading books by himself. It's way too cute! He will also "read" to me- he'll take my finger and have me point to things in the books. What a clever boy I have! :)
Despite the very cold winter we've had, we have taken advantage of the days it is warm enough to be outside (anything above 15 degrees we are out!). Henry and his dad have gone on lots of sled rides and backpack rides.

A favorite of Henry's is putting his diapers in the diaper pail. Here he is in action!
He still loves squeezing into small spaces! :)
I love to cook and have started to cook real meals again (instead of eating cereal for most every meal!). Now that Henry can eat what we eat, it is high time I hopped back on that horse! Henry loves "helping" me in the kitchen (his mom doesn't love it as much- by the time I'm finished most of my cupboards have been emptied and several boxes of crackers have been spilled to the floor!). The other day he got out the oven mitts, went to the oven, and wanted me to open it. How smart is that?!?

Henry's latest stats

Well, it has been quite some time since I've posted. I have an excellent excuse . . . my little buddy no longer naps and isn't great at going to bed anymore (could it be that he's overtired from the lack of naps by bedtime?!?!). I'm exaggerating just a bit when I say he isn't napping anymore. He is taking about a 30-40 minute snooze at daycare and apparently he thinks that is plenty for the day. I've got to come up with a new strategy because that just can't be good for a growing boy's body!
We were at the doctor in mid-January for Henry's 15-month check. He is in excellent health! :)
Here are his latest:
height: 31 1/2 inches (50%ile)
weight: 23 1/2 pounds (50%ile)
head: didn't get the numbers, but he's in the 50%ile
We have a very average boy on our hands! :)
